From Viale Kennedy we will make a short transfer to the valley of Oddoene. The valley has a unique scenery with its vineyards and olive groves set in a natural frame formed by the supramonte mountains. The mountains due to their composition of limestone are white and grey interspersed with reddish brown streaks. The bike tour starts from the bottom of the valley near the ford of the river Frumeneddu, from there through an easy dirt road you reach the country church of Buon Cammino built in ancient track dating back to Roman times that went from Olbia to Cagliari. We will then get close to a Nuraghe overlooking a granite hill from where we can admire the valley from the bottom. After a few kilometers we arrive at a source called “ Sos Chessa” where we can refresh and have a little break. The tour countinues through a dirt road that flows in to the valley. From the valley it is possible to admire the small plots with the typical vineyards of the Cannonau grapes and beautiful olive trees from which the finest wines and oil of the Dorgali area are produced. After about 10 kilometres we will reach a kiosk from where we can refresh and stop for a few minutes. The tour continues towards the Frumeneddu river which originates from the spectacular and famous Gorropu gorge. We will then reach natural swimming pools and water falls with crystral clear waters where we can swim and cool off. After the swim there will be a refreshment break where you can enjoy some typical local products by the river. If the group is large enough the lunch will be provided by the local shepperd making it more characteristic and authentic. The tour continues with a visit to the remains of a Janus Domus, a tomb dating back to 4000 BC (where they say that the fairies still live there), and the ruins of the tomb of the Giants dating back to 1500 BC. At the end of the tour there will be a little adventours surprise.
We are scheduled to return at around 3:30/4pm
