Exploring the Golgo Plateau and the Stunning Cala Sisine in Baunei.
Day 3
The Golgo Plateau and Cala Sisine in Baunei.
Introduction: This e-bike tour will lead you to discover a territory unique in the world for its wild nature and its millennial traditions. From the mysterious Golgo plateau, with its "Su Sterru" (a chasm over 300m deep), to the turquoise waters of Cala Sisine, you will discover a corner of Sardinia where time seems to have stood still.
Tour Description: In the morning, after breakfast at the typical “Cuile” (shepherd's hut) around 8:30 AM, the tour begins with the exploration of the limestone mountain ridge, a panoramic route offering breathtaking views of the plateau and the coast. We will follow ridge trails, immersed in wild and untouched nature, which will lead us to the upper part of the Golgo, passing near the characteristic cuile Pigiosus (shepherd's hut).
During this route, we can also admire Punta Giradili and Punta Salinas, panoramic points of astounding beauty with incredible views of the gulf and the sea. Afterwards, we will return towards the Golgo plateau. It is important to note that this path is a bit rugged with rocky sections where caution is needed, especially in the higher part, with significant changes in elevation. Once we reach Golgo, a well-deserved refreshment awaits us, where we can enjoy lunch immersed in the silence of nature. Rested and recharged, we will dive into the wonders that this place holds: the impressive karstic chasm of "Su Sterru", the Nuragic pools (water reserves nestled among the rocks), and the vestiges of the ancient Nuraghe Coile Serra, a witness to a millennial past.
Subsequently, we will begin the 15 km descent towards the coast, reaching the magnificent Cala Sisine, passing through the Codula di Sisine, a splendid canyon. At Cala Sisine, we will enjoy a refreshing swim in its turquoise waters and you can enjoy this pristine beach.
If sea conditions permit, we will return from Cala Sisine to Cala Gonone by sea, loading the e-bikes onto a boat and/or dinghies. This will allow us to see one of the most beautiful coastlines in Sardinia and admire some of the most sought-after beaches like Cala Luna and the Bue Marino caves. If sea conditions do not allow for a boat return, we will ascend the canyon.
Tour Details:
• Minivan Transfer: 1.5 hours • Tour duration: all day • Route length: 40-45 km • Difficulty: medium-difficult • Terrain: dirt road and asphalt • Maximum elevation reached: 781m.
